The Beach Legacy at UConn
The Charles Lewis Beach Society is the namesake of Charles Lewis Beach, a man of foresight and good works whose concern and love for the University of Connecticut and its students extended far beyond his lifetime. In so honoring him, we recognize those who similarly make provisions in their wills and other estate and planned gifts to The University of Connecticut Foundation, Inc. for the benefit of the University.
President Beach is remembered in part for his role as teacher and leader of what was, in 1908, the young Connecticut Agricultural College. Through his will, he also honored his late wife Louise by providing support for student enrichment and for the institution that was to grow into the University.
Today, the Louise Crombie Beach Memorial Collection of Art and the Louise Crombie Beach Memorial Foundation, made possible through lifetime and planned gifts by President Beach, continue to enrich the lives of students and the University community alike.
